Kl. 11.00 Anna Ancker Persson och Klara Massalsky (Teknisk design) 

Titel: Improving Hair Sample Preparation for Cancer Diagnostics

Beskrivning: Every year, around 10 million people die from cancer, many of whom could have been saved through earlier detection. Capillon Analytics, a company born out of research at Lund University, is developing a method to identify early signs of cancer using hair samples. 

The goal of this thesis was to support Capillon’s work by designing and implementing a concept that improves the manual preparation of hair samples in their laboratory process. The current preparation method is time-consuming and not suitable for up-scaling.

This thesis identified challenges with the existing method and explored different possible solutions for streamlining the preparation process, delivering both a low-fidelity solution possible to implement today and an exploration of a future automated version.

Kl. 13.00 Cornelia Hall och Iris Bjerkén (Produktutveckling) 

Titel: Kickstarting the Circular Transition: Developing a Decision Support Tool for Product-Centered Companies 

Beskrivning: Despite increasing pressure to transition toward circular economy principles, many product-centered companies with existing products embedded in functioning linear systems struggle to know where to begin. According to the Circularity Gap Report (2025), the global economy is only 6.9% circular, highlighting the urgent need for accessible and practical tools to support change and enable circular transitions. 

This thesis presents a digital self-assessment and decision support tool that helps companies evaluate product design and organizational readiness, identify relevant R-strategies and explore suitable circular business models. The tool is designed to be both insightful and educational, encouraging reflection, knowledge-building and cross-functional dialogue within the organization throughout the process. The aim is to strengthen understanding and engagement with circular economy principles while lowering the threshold for companies to initiate their circular transition.

Kl. 14.00 Joel Toryd (Produktutveckling) 

Titel: Product development of a large format camera

Beskrivning: With the resurgence of film photography, photographers around the world are picking up old cameras in search of new experiences. A format that was all but obsolete due to the digital photography revolution is now seeing increasing use, even as the production of new cameras in this format remains severely limited.

The aim of this thesis is to explore the product development cycle of a large format camera from a modern perspective. It investigates how contemporary design and manufacturing methods can be applied to improve one of the oldest designs in the history of photography.
