Established companies play a particularly important role in the transition work the world is facing. These companies are not only equipped with a great number of employees, large resources and networks, they are in many cases also responsible for part of the global problems that need to be solved. It is therefore important that this specific category of companies is successful when transforming to more sustainable ways of doing business, says Emil Åkesson.

In his thesis, he proposes a changed way of looking at business models, by shifting the focus from new business models and their constituent components to business modeling individuals and their knowledge journey. This leads to more open and inclusive ways of working with business models in established companies — towards a more sustainable world.
