Lars Bengtsson is Professor of Industrial Engineering and Management with a focus on technology strategies and business models at Faculty of Engineering LTH, Lund University. He has published some 100 books, book chapters, conference papers and journal articles on strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation, university-industry collaboration and the case study method. Journal articles have been published in reputable research journals such as the European Management Journal, Journal of Technology Transfer, Organization Science, Scandinavian Journal of Management and Science and Public Policy. He has successfully applied for grants from and completed research projects financed by among others the Swedish Research Council, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, Swedish Energy Agency, and Vinnova. Research has also been conducted in collaboration with companies (e.g., Alfa Laval, Axis, Eon, Ericsson, IBM, Sony Mobile, Schneider, Tetra Pak, Trelleborg) and innovation support organizations as research parks and incubators. He has 25 years of teaching experience on strategy, entrepreneurship and innovation. He has supervised ten doctoral students to their doctoral degrees.
Currently he is primarily working on research projects in three areas:
- Business model innovation in solar energy - how business models are replicated and translated from one geographical market to another.
- Business model innovation in Internet of Things - How mature industrial firms respond to IoT.
- Open innovation - how do firms using more of the open innovation strategy perform compared to firms using less of the open innovation strategy.
