Is insufficient decision making a problem in complex product development projects? Long experience from industrial projects in various corporations has formed my belief that this is the case. Is there a general lack of willingness to make decisions, or are there other reasons? The sometimes hundreds of engineers involved in a major product development project need clear direction and visible decisions. If not, confusion will replace creativity. My research project aims to objectively verify my opinion, and, eventually, suggest how the decision making culture could be improved.
